Allison began her sailing adventures at the young age of five in Galveston Bay, Texas. She began sailing a Laser with her parents and brothers. Her favorite memories were of the watermelon races at the Seabrook Sailing Club in which, in her case, the kids went overboard to retrieve the greased watermelons. The challenge and fun was getting the greased melons back to shore/finish line in a Laser already loaded with Mom, Dad and three kids. Around middle school, Allison’s dad bought a Ranger 29’ which was berthed at the Watergate Marina. Allison advanced to spinnaker person when they began racing in the summer regattas. Throughout middle school and high school, they raced and pleasure sailed almost every weekend. After high school, she took a break from sailing to go to college and start a career. In 2006, she and her best bud Jesse decided take a weeklong sailing class in the BVI. After Allison’s extensive research and detailed spreadsheets, they chose Sea Dog Sailing with vibrant captain and teacher Stacey Brooks. Allison obtained three certifications that week…ASA 101, 103 and 104. During a wonderful week in the BVI, Allison and Stacey bonded like sisters and continued with years of sailing and working together. Since 2006, Allison has sailed two Harvest Moon Regattas along the coast of Texas from Galveston to Aransas Pass. She owns a Sunfish which she sails on the Colorado lakes (Lake Vallecito, Lake McPhee, and Lake Granby). As First Mate with Capt. Stacey, she has sailed the BVI numerous times, the French West Indies, Spain, Sicily, Croatia, Malta and Greece!
